Founded with spirit, innovation, and good old-fashioned hard work.
Over more than 100 years, we’ve made a significant and tangible impact on WA’s construction industry, building a reputation for excellence, innovation, and adaptability.
Take a closer look through the chapters of the AE Hoskins history to see how we’ve evolved and pioneered for over a century.
Arthur held Builders Registration Number 6 and was a pioneer in the WA construction industry. The business focused on the residential market, constructing weatherboard and iron roof houses in the Leederville area. As Perth expanded, Arthur seized the opportunity to grow his business. He purchased land in Mount Hawthorn and North Perth where he constructed and sold brick and tile homes.
Thriving on this business model — even through the Depression — Arthur became involved in Defence construction projects throughout the State. Following World War II, the company constructed group housing and individual homes for the WA State Housing Commission & Defence Services.

Arthur died in 1954, leaving a legacy for his three surviving sons Bill, Tom and John, to continue the business. AE Hoskins was now a well-known builder, but the commercial landscape was changing and the family recognised the need to change with it. We shifted from residential to commercial, with a focus on renovations and refurbishments. The firm completed renovations to several key Perth CBD properties, as well as regional centres, solidifying a reputation for quality and integrity.
After more than 50 years, Bill and Tom retired in 1993, followed by John in 1997, bringing a close to the second generation.

Building on the tireless efforts of previous generations, Ken and Michael continued the company’s growth and success. This included expanding the AE Hoskins focus to incorporate commercial maintenance services. Their work saw the company continue to thrive, whilst remaining true to its founder’s commitment to quality and integrity.
Tragically, Ken passed away unexpectedly, leaving Michael as the sole Director of the business.

He embraced this change, diversifying the business from a single trade builder focus, to incorporate expert teams of in-house trades. This decision resulted in even more company growth and development, as well as a name change in 2018 — AE Hoskins Building Services — to reflect our divserse range of services.
Today, we employ more than 80 staff, including the next (and fourth) generation of the Hoskins family — Michael's sons, Jason and Craig. They bring a new focus on technology and innovation, and just like the generations before them, they’re learning the AE Hoskins way from their father. Together, they’re ensuring the legacy and passion of Arthur Edward Hoskins continues to flourish now, and for generations to come.
